  1. These pretzels are making me … hungry. Write about your signature recipe. Any popular or exotic dish to which you give your own twist. Describe the sensory elements like sight, touch, smell to make the words come to life. Include how it makes you, and makes others feel. (no word limit)

  2. You find the diary of your favorite olympics athlete. Describe a day in the life of that athlete. Choose any role model if olympics or sports is not your thing. (700 words)

  3. As an alien, humans disgust you. Describe your hatred for humans. (between 300 and 500 words)

  4. Describe an experience in your life based on this Douglas Adams quote: โ€œI may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.โ€ (no word limit)

  5. First Last Best Worst. This is an easy and fun improv game. Look around you for the first thing that catches your eye, use that as a prompt and write a story using the first, last, best or worst version of that prompt. If there is nothing eye-catching around you, choose a random word from a dictionary, or title from the TV show / podcast you hear. (200 words for story, no word limit for poem/s).

  6. Bonus prompt: same as number 5 above, but in a language other than English. This helps exercise tickle a different muscle of your writing brain. For extra points, use the native script. Google has an excellent transliteration tool here (https://www.google.co.in/inputtools/try/)
